Former Toronto Blue Jays and Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Roy Halladay has kicked the bucket after his plane slammed in the Gulf of Mexico.

The 40-year-old, who resigned in 2013, was the main individual on load up when the plane went down.

The two-time Cy Young Award champ went through 12 seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays and four with the Phillies.

"We are numb over the exceptionally heartbreaking news about Roy Halladay's unfavorable demise," the Phillies said on Tuesday.

"There are no words to portray the bitterness that the whole Phillies family is feeling over the loss of a standout amongst the most regarded individuals to ever play the diversion."

The Pasco County Sheriff's Department said its marine unit discovered Halladay's body, however no survivors.

"Halladay was flying his two-man plane when it went down into the water about a quarter-mile west of Ben Pilot Point in New Port Richey," the workplace said.
